Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission (PONC) - Virtual Meeting

2022 Suggestions deadline to nominate properties: January 31, 2022 by 4:30 pm

  • Date: 09/13/2021 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM  
  • Introduction: Pursuant to Governor Ige's EO21-05 COVID 19 Emergency Proclamation dated 8-10-21 and the Mayor’s Proclamation regarding COVID- 19, these meetings will be online until further notice. This is to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the need to maintain social distancing, and gathering restrictions.

The Commission’s purpose: Coastal View to Hale O Kaili Heiau by Hussey

  • To develop an initial island-wide prioritized list of qualifying lands worthy of preservation and submit it to the mayor. Priorities shall be listed on an island-wide rather than district basis. The list shall include the significance of each parcel or entitlement, identified the reason for its priority, and its anticipated use after the acquisition.
  • To update this list at any time, but at least annually by December 31 of each year.

NEW DEADLINE: 2022 Suggestion Forms are due on January 31, 2022, by 4:30 p.m.

STATEMENT(S) FROM THE PUBLIC: Public participation will be limited to only written testimony to ponctestimony@hawaiicounty.gov or mail to PONC Commission 25 Aupuni Street, Suite 1101, Hilo HI  96720. Please submit 10 days before the meeting or by September 2, 2021, by 4:30 p.m.
